The Verified badge means we've cross-checked your business against Hawaii's Business Registration (BREG). To qualify: be an active Hawaii-registered entity in good standing, and make sure your name and website match your BREG filing. Sharing your BREG file number below speeds up review — it's optional but recommended.

Every business in the Dream Kauai directory is locally-owned, operates on the island, and has been reviewed by an editor before appearing publicly. We do not accept payment for placement or ranking. Businesses can apply for a Verified badge, which confirms they hold an active Hawaii BREG (Business Registration) filing — but Verified status is a trust signal, not a paid tier.

How we vet
Before a business is published, we confirm three things: that it actually exists (a real website, phone number, or physical location on Kauai), that it's actually local (owned or operated by someone on the island — not a mainland aggregator reselling Kauai experiences), and that residents or long-tenured community members recommend it. If we can't confirm all three, it doesn't get published.
When residents contact us to say we got something wrong — a business closed, changed hands, or shouldn't have been listed — we take that seriously and usually act the same day. Locals are the editors we care about most.
What Verified means
A Verified badge means we've confirmed the business holds an active Hawaii Business Registration (BREG) filing under the name shown. It's a factual trust signal, not a paid tier — we don't charge for the badge and we don't rank Verified businesses higher in the directory. If a business is unverified, it just means we haven't confirmed the BREG file yet, not that anything is wrong.
No commissions, no affiliate links
We do not take booking commissions, affiliate cuts, or lead-referral fees on anything in the directory. When you click through to a business, you're going to their site — not through an intermediary that skims a percentage. That model lets us recommend based on what's actually good, not what pays the most.
For business owners
If you run a locally-owned Kauai business and want to be considered, use the submission form on this page. We ask for basic contact info, a website or social link, and (optionally) your BREG file number to speed up verification. Submissions are reviewed by a person, not an algorithm — we usually respond within 3–5 business days.

Do you charge businesses to be listed?
Listing itself is set by the site admin and can be adjusted. We do not charge for editorial placement or ranking — payment (when required) covers verification and dashboard access, not preferred treatment.
How long does approval take?
Typically 3–5 business days. Verification against Hawaii BREG can take longer if we need to confirm details directly with the owner.
Can a mainland-owned business be listed?
Only if it's operated by someone actually on Kauai — a manager or team that lives on the island. We don't list off-island aggregators or resellers.
How do I get the Verified badge?
Provide your Hawaii BREG file number during submission (or later, from your dashboard). Once we confirm the filing is active and matches, the badge appears on your listing.
What if information about my business is wrong?
Email us or use the feedback link — corrections from owners and residents are prioritized and usually applied the same day.
