Our approach

Dream Kauai is a small, community-focused visitor guide. We collect the minimum information needed to run the Site, keep it secure, and improve it. We don't sell your personal information.

Information you provide

• Account info — email address and (optionally) a display name when you sign in.
• Profile content — anything you add to a musician, business, or trip profile: bio, links, photo URLs, genres, hometown, etc.
• User submissions — events, comments, feedback, business listings, reviews.
• Contact info — anything you include when you contact us or submit a listing.

Information collected automatically

• Usage & analytics — pageviews, referrer, approximate location (from IP), device/browser type. Used to understand what's useful and to fix problems.
• Click analytics for musicians/businesses — aggregate counts of clicks on links, YouTube plays, and event views. Owners see stats for their own profile only.
• Cookies & local storage — small pieces of data to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and power features like "My Trip."

Third-party services we use

• Backend & auth — a managed cloud database and authentication provider stores account info, submissions, and analytics events.
• Google Maps — embedded maps for locations, trails, and events.
• YouTube — embedded videos on musician profiles.
• Google AdSense — may serve ads and use cookies to personalize them. See Google's ad policies.
• Facebook — sharing buttons may set cookies when you use them.

These services have their own privacy policies. We don't control what they collect once you interact with them.

How we use your information

• Operate the Site and provide features you request.
• Display listings, events, and profiles you or others submit.
• Keep the Site secure and prevent abuse.
• Understand what's popular and improve content.
• Contact you about your account, submissions, or feedback.

What we don't do

• We don't sell your personal information.
• We don't rent your email list to third parties.
• We don't host uploaded photos or video — links only.

Sharing

Content you post publicly (profiles, events, comments, reviews) is visible to anyone using the Site. We may share information with service providers who help us run the Site, or when required by law.

Your choices & rights

• Edit or delete profile/listing content anytime from your dashboard.
• Opt out of pageview tracking by setting lv_no_track=1 in local storage, or by using your browser's Do Not Track / privacy settings.
• Request account or data deletion via the feedback page.
• Residents of California, the EU/EEA, UK, and other regions may have additional rights (access, correction, deletion, portability). Contact us to exercise them.

Children

The Site isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided info, contact us and we'll remove it.

Security

We use reasonable technical safeguards, but no system is 100% secure. Use a strong, unique password for your account.

Changes

We'll update this policy as the Site evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent change.
